Char Dham Yatra 2025 : Police to Set up Control room for better Management
Dehradun: Uttarakhand police will establish a Char Dham yatra control room, a first-of-its-kind initiative, to ensure better management of the annual pilgrimage, said officials on Friday.
Inspector General (IG), Garhwal, Rajeev Swaroop, and IG (Traffic) Narayan Singh Napalchyal outlined several measures for the safety and security of pilgrims ahead of the yatra next month. Swaroop, who is the nodal officer for, will oversee security arrangements, traffic management, crowd management, and disaster management throughout the pilgrimage.
“The control room, set up in IG Garhwal office, will be managed by SP (Traffic), Dehradun, Lokjeet Singh, and will operate 24/7 with a dedicated team comprising one DSP, two inspectors, four SIs, and head constables. There will be special desks in the control room which will coordinate with relevant departments to handle Char Dham registrations, traffic flow, parking facilities, security arrangements, visitor movements, data management, actions against fake registrations, and disaster response,” said Swaroop.
“The entire Char Dham route has been divided into 15 super zones, 41 zones, and 137 sectors, with each sector spanning 10 km, guarded by two constables around the clock. A DSP will also be assigned to each of the four pilgrimage sites. The security deployment will include 24 DSPs, 66 inspectors, 366 SIs, 615 head constables, 1,222 constables, 208 female constables, 926 homeguards, 1,049 Prantiya Rakshak Dal personnel, nine companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, and 26 SDRF sub-teams,” Swaroop added.
Additionally, DIG (Law & Order) Dhirendra Gunjyal will head a Char Dham cell at the police headquarters to compile information related to the yatra on daily basis.
